Our field trip last Thursday to Kahuku Farms was a great experience for H3. We learned about many things related to our Plants unit! We took a tractor ride around the farm and learned about the different plants the farm grows, how they grow things, and experienced the banana tunnel! (Ask your student what the banana tunnel was...it was a big hit!) We also learned about hydroponics, lettuce growing, and planted our own lettuce plants. Our last activity before lunch was a TASTING where we had the opportunity to taste apple banana (the small variety of banana you find here in Hawaii) and papaya. Yum!
Thank you SO MUCH to Mrs. Hunter and Mrs. Keao for chaperoning. We couldn't have done it without you! Also, another mahalo nui to Mrs. Keao for taking so many great photos! Please check out the gallery below :) We've been so busy learning about rules, reading, and math that I haven't updated our blog! My apologies. H3 students had a great day today starting our reading and math curriculum programs (Harcourt Trophies and Investigations).
Also, I'm happy to report that our scores on our Rules assessment were OUTSTANDING! Way to go, H3! Mrs. Wilkendorf and I had a great time meeting you on Thursday afternoon. Thanks for coming by! If you weren't able to make it, no worries, we'll see you Monday morning! We've been busy since you left getting everything ready (we're even here on a Saturday right now!) and while there are still some things we'll be finishing over the course of the week, we're ready to rock for Monday. Come with a smile!
How did you spend your last weekend of summer? -Mrs. Hancock Mrs. Wilkendorf and I are BUSY getting our room ready to rock! We've been cleaning, sorting, and planning for ALL KINDS of exciting things. See you next week at the Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 1st, from 2-3 pm! If you come by, bring your school supplies! Please label all supplies! Pencils, paper towels, soap, manila file folders, wipes, and tissues do not need to be labeled. If we don't see you on Thursday, we'll see you bright and early on Monday, August 5th!
